Использую AltLinux 2.4. Установил с LDAP обновления СИзифа за сентябрь
месяц и при запуске сервера получаю грабли такого типа
# service slapd start
Adjusting environment for slapd: install: `/etc/openldap/ssl/demo' is a
directory
а если
# slapd -d 255
то показывает
bash-2.05b# slapd -d 255
@(#) $OpenLDAP: slapd 2.2.27 (Jun 29 2005 16:05:00) $
builder@xeon.office.altlinux.ru:/usr/src/RPM/BUILD/openldap-2.2.27/servers/slapd

daemon_init: 1 listeners to open...
ldap_url_parse_ext(ldap:///)
daemon: bind(9) failed errno=98 (Address already in use)
slap_open_listener: failed on ldap:///
slapd stopped.
connections_destroy: nothing to destroy.
и при этом сервис соответственно не стартует.
При установке я абсолютно не менял файлы конфигурации из соображения
посмотреть как этот зверь работает
