У меня начало вылазить где-то _после_ 2.6.25, до 2.6.30
включительно (причём проверялись все релизы и в разных сборках).
Закономерности обнаружить не смог. Более стабильно может
работать на uhci_hcd (USB1.1), если на ehci_hcd (USB2.0) взрывы.
Наблюдалось в т.ч. на флэшках и USB WiFi, то есть на питание
кивать сложно. Также вполне чётко коррелировало с обновлением
ядра -- если правильно помню, 2.6.24-wks были последними,
с которыми такого не наблюдал без повода (питание/шнурок).
Насколько помню огугливание вопроса, повылазило далеко не только
у нас.
