1. отыскать пакет с нужным функционалом
apt-cache search <string>. например telnet, rlogin, remote control
2. после установки посмотреть его содержимое на предмет файлов в /etc
rpm -ql пакет
3. естественно таким же методом поискать доки
apt-cache search <имя пакета> doc
4. rpm -ql <пакет с доками>
если man - man их, info - info их. можно ещё в /usr/share/doc/пакетина
покопаться
для общесистемных/общеизвестных вещей вроде HOSTNAME уже посложнее и
таким алгоритмом в лов не найти.
так что линухам все равно нужен интернет, без них никуда.
