Клубы несомненно нужны. Однако я готов согласится с автором статьи -
формат LUG сегодня просто пережил себя.
Если в городах с небольшим количеством пользователей свободного софта
данный подход еще срабатывает, то в Питере, Киеве, Москве (и далее)
IMHO данная форма уже устарела.
Слишком много стало пользователей свободного софта и слишком разнятся
они по социальному составу, интересам и уровню подготовки, чтобы можно
было бы составить сколь-нибудь внятную программу мероприятий,
интересную большинству.
Важнее скорее клубы по интересам - админство, офис, образование и т.п.
