Задавался таким вопросом... В теории очень хорошо под это дело
подходит нечто типа системы контроля версий. На практике мне
_очень_ не нравится необходимость иметь в каждом каталоге
разные .svn/ и пр. Кроме того, хотелось иметь решение небольшое
и не таскающее за собой уйму зависимостей.
Сейчас остановился на BKY
(http://www.triptico.com/software/bky.html).
Из плюсов - один лишний каталог .bky в корне дерева, требует
bash и rsync. Из минусов - возможности, как бы сказать, ну как
у bash-скрипта на 9 kb :-) .
Базовые - commit с комментариями, вывод логов изменений и самих
изменений между версиями - есть. На остальное он и не
рассчитан.
Сейчас живёт машинах на пяти, главное - не забывать commit'ы
делать после каждого обновления и изменения.
В Sisyphus пакет есть, на Master 2.4 встаёт без изменений.
