sync убрали уже давно.
А charset завязать не получится - реально hal
не знает, какой пользователь будет обращаться к устройству.
В дальнейшем это всё должно управляться
из под пользователя (pmount/pumount или KDE
само)... но пока из под пользователя всё сырое.
