Hi!
Текущий обсизифленый Альт Мастер. После переноса системы на ATA66 винт
(IBM, 60Gb), система начала вешаться при очень активном доступе к диску. В
том числе и в single mode.
В нем, кстати, заметно, что вешается сам процесс, обращающийся к винту
(e.g. cp). Терминалы при этом работают, до первого доступа к винту :)
При установке в эту машину старого винта прочие процессы работают и после
обвисания процесса, обращающегося к ATA66 винту.
Да, процесс, естественно, неубиваемый.
Левый записей в логах нет.
Материнка 440BX, Cel 500MHz, 256RAM.
Где бы ему ручки подкрутить, чтобы увидеть место трапа?

Наблюдал такое у себя один раз. Ни top ни ps посмотреть не
удалось. Больше (тьфу-тьфу) не повторялось.
kernel24-up-2.4.18-alt7, ASUS CUSL2-C, Quantum AS+ 40G.

А ядро какое?
Проблемы появлялись с 2.4.19 и чипсетами от Intel.

Linux netmaster.kds.com.ua 2.4.18-alt7.kds1-linus #1 SMP Tue Aug 13 15:51:32 EEST 2002 i686 unknown unknown GNU/Linux
Оно не linus, а openmosix, но это не влияет, т.к. трапается так же и на
rescue ядре от Master 2.0

Аналогичная ситуация. SMP openmosix ядро. Виснет, иногда, даже
без большой дисковой активности. Оччень быстро работал в
OpenOffice... Крутил - вертел, и довертелся. Ядро без мосикс
патча не пробовал.
Кроме того, при завершении иксов на 810 чипсете наблюдается
мертвое зависание.
