Однако ivman запускал pmount -t iso9660, а в fstab - auto.

Что-то он пытался сделать, но чтобы монтировал? это мне приходилось
руками делать.
Кстати, mount-hal-fs понимает симлинки типа /dev/cdrom -> /dev/hdc ?
Если в fstab прописать симлинк.
