В последнем случае, вероятно, имелось в виду MIN ?
Как можно определить, что какой-нить модуль наличествует, но
вкoмпилирован в ядро? пример - vesafb на wks26
modinfo его не найдет.
grep'нуть /proc/config - криво по ряду причин.
Можно еще grep'нуть /proc/kallsyms на <modulename>_init - но я не
уверен, что такое название функций обязательно, а не просто правило
хорошего тона.

Будет ли возможность глянуть на Gentoo Bootsplash ? Вдруг оно окажется
правильнее и перспективнее ?
