у меня было так : модуль ide-cdrom загружен, но /dev/cdrom не
существует (nor dvd, dvdwriter), а /dev/hdc принадлежит группе floppy.
после service udevd restart все появляется. ide-cdrom загружается
хотплагом. пофиксил засунув cdrom, ide-cdrom в /etc/modules
