Хм... не уверен, что там оставались rpmsave. Хотя может я чего
недоглядел (сонный и голодный).

Если найду. Скорее всего я их в пылу борьбы подредактировал (в попытке
вернуть прежний вид), а потом может и вовсе грохнул. Могу только
описать, как выглядело сразу после обновления:
- темы оформления (той самой, дефолтной, с ромашкой) нет
- темы окна kdm нет, или дефолтная, некрасивая
- список юзеров полный, т.е. всякие юзеры от hasher'a, группы. Вобщем
пунктов 20.
- при старте сессии запускается xconsole
Вобщем, настройки жуткие.

Опция UseLilo, автоматом вставилась через genkdmconf, но kdm на нее
ругнулся. Вешать?
А как на свет background image? Тоже бага или руки кривые? больше ни у
кого не воспроизводтся? Можно гвоздиками прибить вызов krootimage. Но
есть тут один момент: заменил kdmrc версией чуть ли не годичной
давности (ConvigVersion 2.1 вроде), там все отлично работает. Вопрос:
конфиг версии 2.3 сломан или нужна какая-то хитрая опция?
