У меня таже беда. Как ни странно, но после усыпления компа и пробуждения, виджет начинает работать.
Полагаю, что беда не в нем! У меня началось после обновления ядра с 3.1.4 до 3.1.5.

Повозился немного, таки виджет, ядро не при чем. Решения пока не нашел.
