До последнего времени действительно было незачем, пока ntfs-3g не
перетащили на utf only и файлы с половины приносимых флэшек стали с
нечитаемыми именами. Я тоже до последнего времени тянул, но на сегодня
многие программы стали ориентироваться на utf без вариантов, поэтому
рано или поздно придётся переезжать.
