А разве должна команда apt-get install --reinstall приводить к тому, что
rpm -qa показывает столько одинаковых пакетов, сколько раз пакет
переустанавливался?
[root@threebears ~]# rpm -qa | grep kernel-image-std-ll
kernel-image-std-ll-2.6.27-alt10
kernel-image-std-ll-2.6.27-alt13
kernel-image-std-ll-2.6.27-alt11

Для /^kernel-(image|modules)-.*/ - да. См. такж.
