Здравствуйте.

Скажите, а что сейчас в Сизифе работает для организации двух
терминалов на одном компе? Есть один системный блок с
интегрированной видео картой и внешней видео картой с двумя DVI
выходами (Asus EN8600GT). Мониторы есть, клавиатуры, конкуренция за
комп.

Не понял, есть ли в нынешнем xorg поддержка evdev в xephyr. Для
бэкпорта в M40 её делали, а вот сейчас - не нашёл упоминаний. В
Ubuntu поддержка в xephyr evdev для xorg 7.3 есть.

Всякие xgl/aiglx - оно вообще работает? Где дают? А то грустно, что
mplayer в xephyr тормозит, если верить документации.

PS Как читать свалку патчей в debian пакетах? Кошмар...

Посмотрел, спасибо. Не работает второй монитор на встроенной
видеокарте. В аттаче конфиг с закомментированными пока input devices
и фрагмент лога.

Ругань вот такая:

The requested configuration of display devices (CRT-0) in MetaMode
"1024x768" is not supported on this GPU.

Монитор старенький, crt CTX 17 дюймов, в своё время работал на riva
tnt2.

Система - server x86_64, обновлённый до Сизифа примерно от 14 марта.

А какие вообще ожидаются грабли? У меня вот не работает переключение
в текстовую консоль по Ctrl+Alt+F1, и не работает service dm
restart, помогает только Alt+SysRq+(s/u/b) - чёрный экран.

А если как единственный монитор?

Гугль на эту фразу много полезного выдает...
Результаты 1 - 10 из примерно 248 для The requested configuration of display devices (CRT-0) in MetaMode "1024x768" is not supported on this GPU.. (0,38 секунд) 
А в голову пришло, что может помочь руками вбить эту моду
в xorg.conf как 
ModeLine  "1024x768forced" ... .... cо всеми -hsync -vsync
и и указать в
Modes      "1024x768forced"
Это связано с тем, что управление стандартными ModeLine 
начиная с XFree864.0? на совести xserver.

Помните как в XFree86 3 конфиг выглядел?

Работает, на обеих видяхах. Если его воткнуть во встроенную и
сделать её первичной в биос, проблемы с MetaMode нет.

Честное слово, читал. Там ещё на смену версии драйверов nvidia жалуются.

Да, я пробовал явное указание modelines, не помогало. Спасибо за
обновление страницы - почитал грабли и понял, что это пока не моё.
Надо, чтоб работало сразу после включения системника.

Если будет время, попробую с xgl.

Это как раз просто в моем случае -- 
например вместо dm сделать обертку, которая
сервис dm запускает насторенным на один из мониторов,
а на другой монитор просто делает sleep 20; su - my_beloved_wife -c startx second_monitor.

На практике оказалось, что мне и этого не нужно.
Не так часто меня супруга сгоняла с машины.
