Вот! Вот именно! Пользоваться менеджером для пакетов дистрибутива, но не
для тех файлов, которые были получены в результате работы команды gem
install.
Джем пакеты это свободные коллекции, и относить их к пакетам
дистрибутива считаю в корне неверно.
Они могут быть написаны/изменены кем угодно, расположены где угодно.
Поэтому пихать их в дистрибутив - согласитесь, ну совсем не логично...
Посмотрите как перл оперирует своим цпаном.
