Собственно говоря я и указываю в качестве аргумента принудительно кодек
ffmpeg12mc:
mplayer -vo xvmc -vc ffmpeg12mc
/var/opt/disk1/torrent/deep/VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_0.VOB
А вот вырезка из /etc/mplayer/codecs.conf

Собственно говоря кодеку mplayer'a ffmpeg12mc соотвествует кодек
mpegvideo_xvmc в ffmpeg.
Замена mpegvideo_xvmc на mpeg_xvmc_decoder ни к чему не приводит.
Все таки по моему ffmpeg -formats должен выдавать mpegvideo_xvmc в
качестве своего внутреннего кодека, пока этого не происходит.
