Добрый день и с Новым годом!
Что нужно менять в содержимом методики
http://wiki.sisyphus.ru/admin/VmWare, чтобы поставить VMware 5.5.1 на
ядро 2.6.14-alt2?
Если есть пакеты(спек) для vmware 5.5, то как их приспособить для новой
версии?

Простите, Новый год однако встречали :-) , но я понял так, что вскоре
можно будет ожидать появления в известном месте подпапки 5.5.1, где
будут всё необходимое для работы с версией 5.5.1. Или нет?

Я решил, что ради 2 секьюрити-фиксов не хочу качать 100 метров.

userspace-пакеты не должны иметь зависимостей (requires/conflicts) на
kernel-space пакеты, ибо последних может быть много при том, что
используются они не все.
Всё, что мы можем сделать - это runtime checks.
