cu не пробовал, а вот minicom везде, где требовалась эмуляция vt100,
работал "на ура": Soekris net4801, iDirect NetModem II+, Planet GRT-101.
minirc вложен. Имя minirc.soekris - артефакт, эти настройки работали со
всеми вышеприведёнными устройствами.
