timidity -iA
Там есть на самом деле в мануале очень хорошее описание того, как
применять этот ALSA sequencer interface для задач, вплоть до близких к
рилтаймовым.
Рут абсолютно не нужен будет. Из большинства вменяемых современных
программ эта штука будет видна как какой-нибудь ALSA sequencer output
типа 128:0. В во вменяемых более старых - оно будет видно при наличии
OSS-эмуляции в том же списке-перечислении...
