Насчёт принадлежности /dev/hdd (DVD-ROM) к группе cdwriter не могу
знать, надо или нет, - у меня в компьютере с Sisyphus стоит combo-привод
(CD-RW+DVD-ROM). А вот изменение группы на cdwriter у /dev/hdc в вашем
случае можно (и, наверное, нужно) было поручить pam0_console:
# cat /etc/security/console.perms |grep burner
<burner>=/dev/scd* /dev/sr[0-7]* /dev/pcd* /dev/pg* /dev/cdwriter*
<console> 0660 <burner> 0660 root.cdwriter
После переезда с ide-scsi на ide-cd достаточно было подправить симлинк
/dev/cdwriter указывать с того, что было (вероятно, /dev/sg0), на
/dev/hdc. После следующего локального логина любого пользователя из
группы cdwriter права станут те, что надо.
