Пробовал, для чистоты эксперимента каждый раз при смене vmware
перезагружался.
vmware-config.pl запускал, доходит до сборки модулей,
вываливается (здесь это уже обсуждали, лечится ручной сборкой
модулей).
С not-configured vmware вообще не грузится, поэтому при каждой
пересборке vmmon/vmnet этот файлик удалял.
