После обновления
$ cat /etc/altlinux-release
ALT Linux Sisyphus (20040611)
на старте кде вылетает окошко
Ошибка запуска процесса Не удаётся создать вспомогательный процесс для
ввода/вывода.
Сообщение klauncher: Неизвестный протокол 'devices'.
свойства десктопа кде, естественно, недоступны
Как это лечится?

На будущее: именно он отвечает за всякие КДЕшные протоколы типа
devices://, man:// и т.д.

Разумеется. kdebase-kcmshell. Через него запускаются всякие настройки
десктопа, панели задач и т.д. (точнее, вообще все модули kcontrol как
отдельные окошки).
