Я ещё небольшой патчик писал, которых позволял программам через ioctl
выставлять размер фрагмента (в существующих дровах он был прибит
гвоздями). Например, если играться в Half-Life под Wine'ом, то звук
начинает икать, что невероятно раздражает.
Те драйвера, которые сейчас клепают в alsa'е, почти полностью являются
reverse engineering'ми, но пока там только небольшой кусочек. Вообще, я
часто замечаю, что закрытые драйвера под Linux почти всегда содержат
debug-информацию, что упрощает их re.
