Проясните, о чём ещё раз умолчали разработчики.
Ситуация:
XFree86 Version 4.3.0 (ALT Linux build: 4.3.0-alt4)
Поставил xemacs (xemacs-base-1.71-alt2), начал настраивать
программу так, чтобы при старте было окно на весь экран.
Явления природы:
1. Запись в ~/.Xresources:
Emacs.geometry: 900x900
просто игнорируется.
2. Та же запись в /etc/Xresources
приводит к тому, что xemacs на старте орёт "Illegal geometry"
и дохнет.
3. Просмотрел strace-ом чего этому xemacs-у хочется.
Немного приторчал от обилия его желаний.
Создал в домашнем каталоге файл "Emacs" с той же строчкой о геометрии.
Заработало.
Объясните бестолковому , почему всё, что написано в man-ах и
книжках не работает, а работает что-то левое, нигде не описанное.
