fdisk /dev/hda
The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 2434.
There is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024,
and could in certain setups cause problems with:
1) software that runs at boot time (e.g., old versions of LILO)
2) booting and partitioning software from other OSs
(e.g., DOS FDISK, OS/2 FDISK)
Command (m for help): p
Disk /dev/hda: 20.0 GB, 20020396032 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 2434 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Павел,
ответьте на вопрос: под каким номером, как Вы предполагаете, будет
создаваться новый раздел?
Подсказка: в главной таблице разделов (не extended) может быть только 4
раздела - первичные (primary) или расширенные (1 шт, extended).
В Вашей ситуации, видимо, надо просто расширить 4-й раздел до конца диска.

А я уже зарекся делать extended крайним разделом.
У меня вопросы. А /dev/hda4 первоначально создавался "до упора"?
Если да, то когда "потерялись" последние цилиндры?
Я подобный глюк у себя наблюдал (имею master22 + update).
То есть, если extended сразу и "под завязку" не заполнить логическими
разделами
и за ним нет ничего, то после перезагруки свободные цилиндры
"растворяются без осадка".

Да не глюк это просто я сглупил, не посмотрев что у меня extended
раздел не до конца диска. Обычно я делаю до конца, а тут
почему-то сделал ограниченым, почему я так поступил уже не помню,
а сейчас когда понадобилось добавить раздел по привычке не
поглядел на длинну extended.
