Давно видел проблему, сейчас обнаружил более детально:
Система Master 2.2 (KDE 3.1)
В kcontrol есть настройка screensaver-а.
Если мой домашний каталог живёт на локальном диске, процедура
выбора screensaver-а прекрасно отрабатывает и хранитель работает.
Но если домашний каталог живёт на сервере и смонтирован через NFS,
попытка включить настройку screensaver-а кончается крахом.
Может кто-нибудь наблюдал подобные симптомы и знает что-подкрутить?
P.S.Рабочая станция и сервер синхронизированы по времени, - здесь
могут быть проблемы - в Kmail, например, эта фича просто описана.
