При использовании модуля ide-scsi cdrom должен быть ссылкой на
/dev/scd0. У меня исторически прописан в лило hdc=ide-scsi и с любой
писалкой все работает. Попробуй при этом варианте сказать mount
/dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom и если все будет в порядке подправь ссылку. Запись
без scsi эмуляции будет нормально работать в ядрах 2.6.х
