Это скорее не сервис, а отсутствие или неправильная позиция
mdns4_minimal в строке hosts: в /etc/nsswitch.conf.
С другой стороны, конфигурация вида
hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns mdns4
тоже чревата проблемами из-за любви местных кривопровайдеров к зоне
.local для своих внутренних серверов.
