собственно, не уверен, на что рапортовать в багзиллу, повесил на desktop
5.0.0.
проблема:
не стартует графика, как на только что установленной системе (i586) (образ от
20090908), так и после обновления.
Совершенно сноит мозги, что при загрузке в режиме live CD С ТОГО ЖЕ ДИСКА,
графика прекрасно "заводится" и нормально и без нареканий работает.

Интересно, что при загрузке в режиме liveCD с того же образа, графика
НОРМАЛЬНО
РАБОТАЕТ, включая эффекты и 2х мониторную конфигурацию.

Покажите /proc/meminfo и /proc/vmallocinfo в этом состоянии.
Можно попробовать загрузку с параметром vmalloc=256M (или подобрать
подходящее значение поточнее).

А в BIOS какой-нибудь параметр про выделение памяти для AGP не может
влиять?

Это я проверил в 1ую очередь. Не влияет, по крайней мере, я изменений не
обнаружил.
И остаётся ворпос, почему РАБОТАЕТ с live CD, без ручного вмешательства в
vmalloc= ?

Похоже, происходит какая-то чушь с распределением памяти в районе xfs;
при этом утечки как таковой, возможно, и нет (кстати, сколько ФС там
смонтировано и с какими опциями?), но фрагментация области vmalloc не
даёт возможности выделить достаточно большой блок, нужный для nvidia.
Зато понятно, почему при загрузке LiveCD всё работало - там-то эти ФС
не монтируются.
Можно ещё глянуть lsmod и dmesg на всякий случай - возможно, там есть
ещё какие-то странности.
