Совсем страшная сказка на ночь.
в I/S ушел xorg-server-1.4.2-alt4 собранный с hal (libXiconfig теперь не
нужен), но сильно пугаться не надо, ибо по умолчанию input-hotplug отключен.
для того что бы его включить в xorg.conf нужно дописать
Section "ServerFlags"
Option "AutoAddDevices" "true"
EndSection
ну и дальше править /etc/hal/fdi/policy/10-x11-input.fdi
