Я вписывал там options для модулей snd_hda_intel и ipw2200.
Некоторый skill, приобретенный в области владения функцией Scroll Lock
позволил поймать самое начало беды:
scsi_mod: Unknown parameter `max_scsi_luns`
FATAL: Error inserting scsi_mod (/lib/modules/2.6.18-std-smp-alt6/...
Поиск привел обратно в /etc/modprobe.d - в файле options действительно
оказался такой параметр. Я бы помнил, если бы выдумал его сам...
Есть предположение, что теперь его переименовали в max_luns.
Теперь все получилось.

Позвольте еще один нескромный вопрос вскользь, вот об этом:

Означает ли использование опции combined_mode=libata, что DVD-RW
будет работать через эмуляцию SCSI, как с kernel-2.4 и все проблемы
со скоростью будут решены? Это и есть обещаный когда-то давно режим
совместимости с кривыми BIOS?
Настройки SATA В BIOS либо отсутствуют, либо сверх-засекречены, и
волшебную кнопочку их открывающую найти не удалось. А скорость 8х
так хочется.
P.S. Не удержался, попробовал. Похоже, на то, что DVD разогнался.
