А что, он действительно не работает с новой glibc? Может багу повесить, чтобы
не забыли пересобрать в репозитарии?

Не могу сказать точно :(
Но факт остаётся фактом - без пересборки не работал. И сломался после
обновления.
Причём такая странность - сломался не сразу после обновления, а где-то
после первого после обновления logrotate'а

Работает, пересобирать не надо. Разве что перезапустить после установки
новой glibc.
