Так, выяснилось, что не играет только через xv, x11 - нормально (не считая
конечно жутких тормозов), gl - некоторое время играет, потом вешает комп
намертво. Это уже после сегодняшнего обновления (ядро, xorg-x11).

У меня с xorg-x11-drv-ati из Сизифа тоже Xv отсутствует. Использую
xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.5.7.3-alt1.git20060309
