А что, взять .rpm (например, в кэша apt'а, или из первоисточника), "войти" в
него Midnight Commander'ом, и скопировать что угодно куда угодно - не
выход? :) Это не говоря о распаковке .rpm множеством других методов...
Я понимаю, что reinstall нужен, но не стоит забывать и о других путях...
К тому же, еще есть --force, --replacefiles при install...
