Этот ghostscript оффициально поломан или это только у меня? Может
кто-то знает как лечить?

Официально не сломан, даже работает на Postscript файлах, которые мне
попадаются, но отдетектить данную проблему надо, пожайлуста посмотрите
(через strace например) где он пытается искать шрифты и где они у Вас в
системе реально находятся.

Ну, в общем, понятно. Там, где шрифт лежит, ghostscript его и не
пытается искать.

Это вываливается в Xfig при экспорте картинки с текстом.

Вместо этого пакета нужно установить fonts-type1-urw (пакет очередной
раз переименован, и шрифты переехали в /usr/share/fonts/type1/urw).
apt-get dist-upgrade этого не предлагает?  Впрочем, в любом случае
получается, что где-то в ghostscript не хватает зависимостей на
шрифты.
