hde он будет или не hde, может зависит от порядки загрузки модулей для ide и
всяких прочих их параметров.
Попробуйте при старте системы отловить на экране диагностические сообщения,
касающиеся этого нового контроллера и диска на нём - там напишут, как он
зовётся.

тогда наверняка работает udev, тогда смотрите ls /dev/hd*
