Существует распространённое мнение, что ничего серьёзного на языке
Pascal сейчас не делается, между тем он находит применение в бизнесе и
в этой статье Тони Маро (Tony Maro) директор по информационным
технологиям небольшой (14 человек) фирмы, занимающейся переводом в
электронный вид бумажных документов (60 000 изображений в день),
главным образом медицинского характера, рассказывает о применении у
них свободного программного обеспечения, в частности FreePascal'я и
Lazarus'а -- графической среды разработки и набора библиотек,
аналогичных Delphi.
"Lazarus и FreePascal дали возможность мне очень быстро и легко писать
программки, позволяющие нам преобразовывать данные и изображения в
подходящий формат, выгруженные с нашего сервера." Автор также отмечает
удобство кроссплатформенного написания кода с помощью этих средств.
