[sisyphus] возвращаясь к вопросу о i915g

Обновив ядро до 2.6.12 и собрав modules-drm добился нормального 
опознования agpgart на i915gm (sonoma).
В логах xorg сейчас видно, что модуль dri загружается и direct rendering 
enabled, но glxinfo говорит что:
name of display: :0.0
display: :0  screen: 0
direct rendering: No

Т.е. - он "Enabled" - в логах - а glxinfo говорит что он - disabled (No)

Либо, если в системе по каким-то причинам стоят пакеты fglrx_glx или
nvidia_glx*, аналогичная проблема может наблюдаться, если
/usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1 указывает не на ту библиотеку.

исходниках беру из Сизифа чтобы была возможность 
править/патчить/пересобирать при необходимости - нормального канала в 
инет у меня нету, сизиф синхронизировать при различных исправлениях в 
lib  для меня накладно. Ядро было в исходниках - ну и drm к нему до кучи 
вытащил.

Модуль drm судя по всему работает нормально, т.к. до установки 2.6.12 + 
drm у меня mplayer через -vo xv не играл - только через -vo x11...  А 
вот что с dri - ума не приложу.

glxinfo выводит помимо direct rendering: No еще  Unrecognized deviceID 2592

потому как судя по слухам, драйвер i810 (на коем щас мой ноут работает)

разобрался. для i915GM и i945G действительно 3д не будет. помимо самого 
драйвера надо еще месу патчить. завтра попробую разобраться. тестером будешь?

Ну вот.  Значит, /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri/i915_dri.so это железо не
узнаёт (хотя ядерный модуль и драйвер X знают).

Почему-то в CVS Mesa поддержку I915GM засунули одновременно с кучей
расширений - непонятно, нужно ли что-то ещё из этого коммита для
работы на I915GM, или достаточно добавить PCI ID.

да, gears кажет маловато попугаев. у меня было раза в два больше, но то на 
i915G

Похоже на то будто vsync включился в драйвере. С чего это? Полезу 
копаться в документации... :-)  Уменьшилось FPS и уменьшилась нагрузка 
на процессор.... (для gears - c 20% до 10%)

Поковырявшись немного, нашел причину: был включен режим 788 при 
загрузке. Framebuffer, если не ошибаюсь, он называется? Вот с ним - 
сразу FPS падает в 4 раза. Гружусь в text mode - все ок.
Заметил так же интересный глюк: при использовании framebuffer , если

4400, modprobe b44) - то сетевуха начинает глючить - не принимает ничего 
- аrp ответы посылаются, но она их не "берет". В консоль при поднятии в 
таком режиме однократно "выплевывается" Disable IRQ #16 . Если Х-ы не 
поднимать, и поднять сеть до них - все нормально. Однократно так же 
машинка зависла полностью и не реагировала даже на alt+sysrq+O  при 
попытке поднятия eth0 из иксов, при этом в консоли был режим 788.
Вот, повторил эксперимент - vga=788, затем - init 5, в xterm:  su - -c 
"ifconfig eth0 172.16.10.62 up" - полное зависание всего... Напрочь... :-)
Вижу, что в config-2.6.12-std26-up прописано: CONFIG_FB_VESA=y, 
CONFIG_FB_INTEL=m.
Чтобы попробовать intel-овский модуль (modinfo гласит что он для 915g и 
подобных), нужно ли пересобирать ядро с VESA=m ?
Предварительный вывод - использовать vesa fb вместе с xorg на 915g - 
низя... (по крайней мере для 2.6.12) :-)

А что ещё, кроме сети, висит на IRQ 16 (в /proc/interrupts)?
Возможно, i915 как раз там (его будет видно только после запуска X).

Попробуйте ещё новые модули drm:

(по причине всеобщего запоя эти модули вот уже неделю не могут попасть
в сизиф).

Впрочем, ни один модуль drm не будет полностью нормально работать при
активном vesafb (или вообще любом *fb), пока эти подсистемы ядра не
перепишут очередной раз, чтобы drm и fb использовали какие-то общие
компоненты.  Базовая функциональность, скорее всего, будет доступна и
при активном fb, а вот suspend/resume отвалится.

Да, при попытке запуска gears во время работающего в framebuffer-e 
mplayer-а  xorg перезагружается (интересно только - почему иногда он 
перезагружается на 8-ю консоль? А второй раз он - на 7-й перезапустился...).
    Теперь - непосредственно об fb. В результате непродолжительных 
мозговых усилий мной был порожден до банальности простой патч для 
kernel-2.6.12, позволяющий intelfb работать с i915GM . Затем, 
подозревая, что могут быть "подлянки" наподобие имевшихся у vesafb, я 
опробовал video / b44(выгрузка-загрузка) / xorg-drm во всевозможных 
сочетаниях и извращениях. Вплоть до запуска mplayer в fb и чего-либо 
glx-ного в xorg и конфигуряния сетевухи / модулей из xterm. Никаких 
мертвых зависаний / ранее описанных глюков сетевухи не наблюдалось и 
пока не наблюдается. Сообщения об irq16 так же не наблюдались. в dmesg и 
12-й консоли - ничего подозрительного замечено не было. Приаттачил патч 
и вещдок в виде dmesg.    :-D
C suspend уже сегодня разбираться нету сил.
    Особенность моей ситуации - согласно инфы с 
http://www.xfree86.org/~dawes/intelfb.html - при наличии non-CRT 
устройства модуль intelfb надо встраивать в ядро и передавать ему 
параметр vga=xxx при bootstrap.

медленнее стала. А уж когда еще накинули bootsplash...

Впрочем Suspend to disk с выключением посредством swsusp2+hibernate у
меня работает.
Вот разные там ACPI S3 & S4 - нет.

Интересно, переключением видеорежимов на i855+LCD заведует 
отдельно-иксовый драйвер, или dri-модуль?

2.6.12) - диск не мучал, а лишь suspend to ram  - действительно, при

По поводу скорости графики - она еще в i915gm весьма зависит от bpp - 
при 16-и gears кажут ~ 1300 fps, а при 24-х    ~ 800 fps. Тестил так же 
с помощью quake3 (сравнивал с gf4 440go, процессоры и настройки видео в 
игре - одинаковые ) - intel выдавал где-то 30-40 fps, geforce - 60-85

недавно поставил 32bpp, что с учетом LCD м.б. и излишне.

Жаль нельзя менять на лету цветность, как разрешение через
