К тому, что во первых KDE/GNOME/WindowMaker должен узнать о том,
что сменный носитель подключен/отключен, а во вторых монтирование
должно производиться от пользователя, из запущенного
пользователем процесса. Проще всего это сделать из K/G/WM.
Также как и визуальную или ещё какую нотификацию проще встроить в
интерфейс оконнего менеджера.

Беда в том, что когда мне приходится заниматься чем-то типа пакета
ImageMagick, после первого взмаха напильник уже трудно остановить.
