Hi,
А где-нибудь есть краткая рассказка как с наименьшим гемороем
перейти с альтовских 2.4 ядер на 2.6? И какое ядро лучше ставить из
2.6 серии на рабочую станцию?

Я вытащил синаптиком с сизифа посл. ядро 2.6 - и все пока работает.
По мелочи пришлось вычистить мусор из Грубовског оменю, но в целом все
хорошо.

а как же с модулем psmouse? и вроде usb'ые хост-модули тож немного
переименовывались...
во всём остальном, всё должно быть прозрачно...

см. тему apt-get dist-upgrade
драйвер ps/2-й мыши действ. слетел - прилось заново скачивать, но думаю
причинабыла в излишней зависимости рпмки от XFree86.
в остальном... я не помню что ч сначала обновил, иксы или ядро, новсе
кроме синаптика заработало.
Переопределилось само? м.б.

hotplug все что нужно загрузил.
