Сегодня во время обновления lilo вылезло следующее:

/usr/sbin/detectloader: hda: lilo
/dev/mapper/control: open failed: No such file or directory
Is device-mapper driver missing from kernel?
Added failsafe

Что бы это значило?

Ничего настолько страшного, что бы что-то поломало.
Просто у вас не запущен devicemapper. А этот SPAM надо бы задавить в
libdevmapper, о чем можно уведомить мантейнера через bugzilla.

А в каком пакете он живёт? Я в системе ничего подобного не нашёл и apt о
нём ничего не знает.
