Нет, многопользовательский.
Проблема с правами. Решится, если сокет класть куда-нибудь, типа
/var/lib/alsa_soket root:audio 0770,
а сам сокет user:user 0777.
Не знаю, насколько может быть плохо в плане security.
Не пробовал, что будет при одновременной игре у двух пользователей с
разными настройками dmix в ~/.asoundrc, а не с
одним /etc/asound.conf

Это не знаю, тестировать нужно.
Возможно проблема, как и с arts в ядерной части alsa.
У меня с 2.4.27-alsa1.0.6 в arts звук отставать перестал.
P.S.
Давайте тогда в devel перенесем, может кто еще что-то дельное
подскажет?
