Из man locale:
-m, --charmaps
Write names of available charmaps.
А на деле:
$ locale -m
locale: cannot read character map directory
`/usr/share/i18n/charmaps': No such file or
directory
И действительно, такой директории там нет:
$ ls /usr/share/i...
icons idl info
Это где ошибка?
Вот что у меня стоит:
$ rpm -qa | grep locale
XFree86-locales-4.3.0-alt13
glibc-locales-2.3.3.200406160000-alt1
