Там кривое кодирование. В konsole и gnome-terminal у меня сейчас стоит
одинаковый шрифт (Fixed[Misc] 10). konsole примерно сопоставима с
xterm на этом шрифте (xterm несколько быстрее, но < в 2 раза), а вот
gnome-terminal раз эдак в 5+ тормознее.

А что, скорость процессора влияет на относительные результаты?
Да и 1700 Атлон - неплохая железка "для дома, для семьи".
