Было подозрение, про bash. Потому не юзал - и только спохватился, когда
в gawk упёрся.
Про гавк: неткат != сетевые возможности гавка. Абсолютно, не говоря уже
о том, что кучу кода предстоит перелопатить в этом случае.
Имхо, наличие замены - плохое обоснование кастрации регулярных
возможностей программы. Тем более, такой традиционной и, казалось бы,
устаканившейся, за k-то лет.
А давайте -W compat добавим в профайл на awk, и вернём ему ноги и крылья
обратно. А те, кому эти крылья нужны, изменят это поведение локально,
прочитав README.ALT. Если уж и пугаться программы, то лучше таким, на
мой взгляд, более конструктивным способом.
ЗЫ: ну вот, похоже, ещё одной локальной сборкой в моём репозитарии
прибавилось...
