Счастливые обладатели пакета startup >= 0.7-alt1 теперь могут использовать
для восстановления непостижимым образом пропадающего файла /etc/localtime
(у меня не пропадал ни разу) "service clock tzset".
Пример:
# mv /etc/localtime /etc/localtime.away
# service clock tzset
Setting timezone information (Europe/Moscow): [ DONE ]
# cmp /etc/localtime /etc/localtime.away

Это где-то зафиксируется? (и, кстати, может иметь смысл в
firsttime)

Лучше сделайте так, чтобы /etc/localtime у вас не пропадало. :)

Ы. Его вообще переработать надо, точнее, в нынешней форме
неадекватно есть. Т.к. большая часть в compact неприменима --
заниматься этим облом.
