А вы понимаете, что вы пытаетесь сделать?
Баш wildcard открывает в список файлов каталога, подходящих под неё.
То есть, вы дали команду
ls file(1) file(2) ... file(n-1) file(n)
Я бы на месте баша тоже матернулся бы.
А что вы хотели, если не секрет?
