Вах! Он говорит что я - конкретный тормоз в сабже! :)
# fdisk -l /dev/sda

/dev/sda1 * 1 942 255983+ b Win95 FAT32
Partition 1 has different physical/logical endings:
phys=(1000, 16, 32) logical=(941, 2, 31)
А причина торможения была в том, что когда я ранее вставлял флэшки с USB 2.0,
то kernel мне показывал разделы, в данном же случае это не происходило :(
Кстати я пробовал монтировать, на ядре по-моему 2.4.20 - не получалось.
