Вопрос решён с помощью замечательного демона по имени vtun. Отсюда
вытекает другой вопрос: какие веские причины есть на то, чтобы его не
было в Сизифе? Это уже не первый раз, когда задача построения туннеля
успешно (и очень просто) решалась при помощи vtund, в частности, он
очень помог однажды построить ethernet-level tunnel (альтернативы тому
решению, кстати, я так и не нашёл).
На возможные: pptp так и не поднялся, все модули загружены, конфиг по
howto, но - не работает. Это очень странно, он поднимался раньше на
сервере двумя телодвижениями, а на клиенте так и вовсе одной строчкой. А
использование IPSec в данном случае напоминает охоту на блох с помощью
тактического ядерного оружия: накроет, конечно... Даже круто :) Но не
тот масштаб. Мне всего-то надо два хоста соединить, а с ssh-туннелем не
разобрался с наскоку (не нашёл pty-redir, да так и забил).
